Free Intermediate Korean Workshop: Learning by Translation

Learning by Translation is a workshop consisted of 3 parts:

1. Korean to English (Reading Comprehension)
2. English to Korean (Speaking and Composition) 
3. Culture & Discussion (Appropriateness and Fluency)

As the workshop title reads, you will practice Korean through translation methods. This is one the methods I use for my future professional translators and interpreters; it is fun, and it does wonders! I will add a few twist so that it will be appropriate for intermediate level.

A Message from a Hostess Reading Materials will be provided to you on the day of the event. The part of this practice is to be able to "guess" what the story is about. But since this is the first time, I may decide to provide the materials in advance. Your RSVP will help me decide on this. This group is not appropriate for Beginners in Korean. If you passed TOPIK 2 or are equivalent, this one is the right fit for you! If you are below this level, you are welcome to come and check us out. But remember we will NOT go over basic expressions. For beginners study group and classes, please refer to the group's calendar. This is a free event. However as a courtesy, we ask that you order at least one item so that we can keep coming to this venue. Donation to organizers and staff is always appreciated but not required. Space is limited. A Message to Native Korean Speakers 한국어 원어민 여러분께 정기적으로 봉사를 해 주시던 강사님들과 도우미 선생님들이 바뀌고 모자르게 되면서 그동안에 꾸준히 진행해 오던 강습 및 교육 이벤트들이 소홀해졌습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 인내로 도와주시고 한류 회원들을 밀어 주셔서 감사합니다. 통번역 강습 수업  방법을 사용한 번역을 통한 한국어 배우기 1일 워크샵은 다음과 같은 형식으로 진행됩니다. (1) 한영 (한국어 독해. 한국어 원어민에게는 영어 말하기 및 작문 연습) (2) 영한 (한국어 활용. 한국어 원어민에게는 독해) (3) 문화, 의사 교환 발표 (적절성과 유창성) 이 방법은 저희 통번역 학생 여러분을 위해 사용하는 방법인데, 중급 한국어를 구사하는 학생들을 대상으로 하는 것이니만큼 이 방법을 중급에 적당하도록 조금 바꿔서 실시합니다. 자료는 당일에 배포됩니다. 내용을 보고 큰 그림을 통해 작은 것을 이해하는 것도 연습의 한 부분이기 때문입니다. 그러나 이번은 첫 모임이므로 참석하시는 분들을 보고 사전에 자료를 배포할 것인지 정하도록 하겠습니다. 그러므로 참석 여부를 조속히 알려 주시면 큰 도움이 되겠습니다. 영어 실력은 중급 이상이 되셔야 합니다. 초급의 표현이나 작문이 잘 안 되시는 분이면 따라잡기 힘드실 테니 꼭 유념해 주세요. 영어 스터디 그룹은 원하시는 분이 충분히 있으시면 하실 수 있도록 도와드리거나 주선하겠습니다. 관심이 있으시면 말씀해 주세요. 이 모임은 무료입니다. 하지만 우리가 사용하는 장소 비용으로 최소한 차나 음식을 한 두개 구입해 주시면 감사하겠습니다. 모임 운영자들에게 기부를 해 주시면 사양하지는 않겠습니다. 나가는 비용이 은근히 많거든요. :) 모임 정원은 작게 한정해 두었습니다만, 대기자가 많으면 조정을 하겠습니다. 금요일까지 참석여부를 해 주시면 장소를 확보하고 기타 여러가지 준비를 하는데 큰 도움이 되겠습니다. 무엇보다도 다른 학생분들이 보고 참석할 용기를 얻습니다. 마지막으로 모임에 변동 사항이 있을 경우 연락을 드릴 수 있는 방법이 필요해서입니다. 마지막으로, 망설임 없이 참석해 주시고 이 모임이 성장할 수 있도록 밀어주세요. 여러분들의 도움 없이 한 두사람이 살림을 할 수 없는 좋은 모임, 좋은 사람들이 가득한 곳입니다. 참석 및 불참 회칙을 준수해 주시기 부탁드립니다. http://koreanla.blogspot.com/p/policy.html 감사합니다. 윤진이
